Chetana joined the Board of Annapurna Indian Dance Company in 2003, serving as Chairman of the board for many years. Her inspiration for learning and promoting Indian music & dance was derived from her late father, Mr. Virendra Bhatt, who was a well- loved musician in the North West.
Chetana started out as a high school Science teacher in 1970, was employed by Kirklees Education Service as an Education Advisor in 1992 and also worked as an OFSTED Inspector of schools for 15 years before her retirement. Throughout the 40 years during which she was working full-time in mainstream education Chetana has spent her free time leading and supporting various community organisations in a voluntary capacity.
Over the years Chetana has continued to promote Indian culture among the young and the old. The opportunity for doing so has arisen from her work as a Board member of Annapurna Indian Dance Company, as Registrar and as Chair of Education at the Manchester based arts organisation called “Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan” , as Headteacher of Gujarati school at Shree Bharatiya Mandal Ashton -u-Lyne, as President of Indian Association, Oldham, as Secretary for a newly formed ‘Saheli’ Women’s group, Indian association, Oldham and many more.
